What does it mean to be Cat Friendly?
Cats are special creatures; if you own a cat, you're aware that you never can really know what they're thinking. Cats are independent, smart, easily frightened, and masters of hiding their illnesses. Cats need annual visits to the veterinarian just like dogs do or perhaps even more than dogs because they are so sneaky! But 58% of cat owners say that their cat HATES going to the vet!
To help combat the stresses of vet visits and to see more cats living longer, healthier lives, the AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners) has put forth standards that must be followed to consider a practice "Cat Friendly". You would think that any veterinary clinic who sees cats would be cat friendly, but this is not the case. Cat Friendly practices have special features like cat-only exam rooms and/or waiting rooms, specific cat-only appointment times, specially trained staff, and superior cat handling skills.
We are very proud to be a Cat Friendly practice! We know that a carrier, car ride, and noisy building with new, scary smells like dogs can make cats extremely stressed. That is why we have taken the extra steps to train our staff and modify our practice to accommodate cats and their specific needs in order to make their visits to us a low-stress experience.
